Since its establishment, BIS has embodied the essence of being truly ‘International’.  A progressive school, BIS places a strong emphasis on nurturing meaningful relationships and fostering a joyful learning environment. What has remained consistent over the years is the way in which stakeholders and visitors describe the school. Words such as “caring,” “connected,” and “strong sense of community,” perfectly exemplify the success of the school’s vision. BIS has welcomed staff and students from over 40 nationalities over the years, enriching its ethos.

BIS holds the distinction of being Bangalore city’s first international school, established in 1969. Now in its 54th year, the school’s legacy has made a significant contribution to the city’s educational landscape. Its curated and enriched curriculum in early years, elementary and middle school, provides a strong foundation for the rigour of senior school. Since 2005, BIS has offered a choice between two leading international curricula, namely Cambridge and the International Baccalaureate. After completing their IGCSE in Grade 10, students can select either Cambridge’s AS and A Levels or the IB’s Diploma Programme pathways, both highly coveted around the world. Over the years, BIS students have consistently achieved strong results, gaining admission to prestigious universities worldwide, and making substantial contributions to their professional communities.

BIS takes great pride in its commitment to being an inclusive school. For the past two decades, our Learning Centre has provided tailored programs to students with diverse special education needs, supporting them in achieving their learning objectives and facilitating a successful transition after school. Many students, upon completing their Grade 12 NIOS course, have gone on to join colleges in India and abroad.

The school’s commitment to nurturing the whole child is evident in its comprehensive curriculum, which encompasses performing arts, music, visual arts, sports and computer science. Excellence in the Arts seen in student performances in BIS’ mega events, MADD Fest and Xanadu, highlight the impact of its approach. Furthermore, the school actively participates in a 6 school, 5 sport BAASC tournament, Model United Nations, quizzes, debates, Olympiads, tech-challenges, field trips, and more, promoting excellence among its students.
